New iPad Air 2024: M2 processor, new cameras, and more RAM

Apple is reportedly developing the sixth-generation iPad Air, according to Bloomberg’s tech analyst Mark Gurman in his recent Power On newsletter. While the exact release date is still unknown, the new iPad Air is expected to bring several upgrades.

The previous iPad Air was launched in March 2023 and featured the powerful Apple M1 processor. The upcoming model, however, is anticipated to come with a new processor. It is unlikely to be equipped with the new M3 processor, which is slated for release later this year. Instead, it is more likely to feature the Apple M2 processor. Apple seems to be reserving the M3 for its upcoming Macs and high-end iPad models like the iPad Pro.

In addition to the new processor, the sixth-generation iPad Air is expected to receive other enhancements. These may include improved cameras and increased RAM compared to the current models. However, the design of the device is not expected to undergo any major changes.

While the specific release date is uncertain, it is unlikely that the new iPad Air will debut alongside the iPhone 15 range in September. Instead, it is speculated that the device may be launched around March of next year. As more details emerge, we will provide further updates.
